about Malmesbury flood & EMERGENCY info
This site was originally quickly put together as a repository for local knowledge in response to flooding in Malmesbury, Wiltshire in 2012. Lots of people were asking the same questions so, hopefully, we can collect all that experience in one place to make sure the information is available to those that need it. With a lot of the information also being relevant for other civil emergencies it seemed appropriate to expand the remit to cover those as well, although they seem a less frequent occurrence than flooding in some part of the Malmesbury Community Area.
We've tried to collect together information about companies which supply equipment and services which may be useful prior to, during, or after a flood. There has been little opportunity to review these firms so their inclusion should not indicate any kind of endorsement, nor should omission imply any kind of concern. Suppliers appear with local firms preceding national ones, but otherwise it's in the order that we've found them. If you know of any useful information please get in touch and we'll see if we can include it, though the emphasis on this site is giving some kind of guide to what to do and who to contact, not to collect every possible scrap of information or to create an exhaustive list of suppliers. Local information and supplier details are particularly welcome.
Building on the initial success of this site we have expanded its remit to include links to additional information relating to other forms of civil emergency. While still primarily focused upon flooding we will also be including links to local emergency plans where available and links to other information and suppliers to at least give you a starting point for finding out more about how to deal with other emergencies.
This site has been put together by Malmesbury and the Villages Community Area Partnership (MVCAP) - a charity working to address local concerns in the Malmesbury Community Area.
