CIVIL EMERGENCIES
Aside from the flooding and cold & hot weather there are obviously all manner of other potential civil emergencies that could occur. Chemical accidents can vary from the very local, such as spillages or leaks, to more widespread incidents resulting from industrial processes. Pollution of the water supply can leave homes without drinking water for many days. Active nuclear power stations at Hinkley Point and Oldbury and the historic site at Berkeley also have a small chance of triggering an emergency.
